Drawing & Sketching Teen Workshop

$15.00

Dates: April 16th & 30th and May 7th & 14th

Time: 6pm-7:30pm

Ages: 13-18

Join Aly Rhodes for a four-part workshop covering the foundations of drawing and sketching. Each class will build upon skills from previous class dates. While helpful, there is no requirement to attend every class to participate. Students will be able to “jump in” no matter what and participate in the weekly topic.

This workshop will focus on drawing still life objects while learning about composition, sketching, and form.

Class 1 - April 16th

We will focus on the art of observing and different types of tools to use for sketching, e.g. graphite. We’ll also cover more abstract concepts like when to get lost in the details.

Class 2 - April 30th

What do you want to include in the frame? We will build upon skills from the first class, but with a focus on compositional elements such as positive/negative space and overall rendering.

Class 3 - May 7th

This class will be all about diving into the details with techniques like shading to create depth, and contrast.

Class 4 - May 14th (rescheduled date)

We will combine everything we have learned thus far to draw from a more complex still life composition. This class will be an extra 30 minutes longer so students have the opportunity to really get into the details.
